Also known as Asclepias, this is a locally grown heritage swan plant, famous for being a favourite of the Monarch butterfly. It also has stunning origami-star flowers and beautiful fluffy seed pods. A favourite with children, the caterpillars feast on the leaves, create their chrysallis and turn into the Monarch butterfly. Fascinating to watch - the caterpillars eat a lot so plant a few more every few weeks. Best planted in spring and early summer.
